I’m writing from my own third act — five decades of watching how systems, institutions and quiet assumptions actually shape ordinary life in Britain. Every piece in The World Beyond The Headlines starts with something visible — a waiting room, a boat crossing, a phrase you’ve stopped questioning — and asks what’s really producing it.
I don’t tell you what to conclude. I try to ask a better question than the headline did, back it with evidence, and leave room for you to disagree.
