The Last Retirement
Artwork inspired by Episode 1 of Stories From 2045.
Introduction
When I wrote The Last Retirement, I found myself imagining not only the story, but the images behind it.
What would the final commute look like?
How would it feel to wake up in a world where work had disappeared, and there was nowhere you needed to be?
These two pieces explore those ideas.
🖼️ The Last Commute
The Last Commute imagines the final journey to work in a society where retirement has become obsolete, and employment is no longer a necessity.
The image captures a moment between two worlds: one defined by routine and another defined by uncertainty.
🖼️ The Empty Calendar
The Empty Calendar represents one of the central questions of the story.
If all obligations disappeared tomorrow, what would you do with your time?
For the first time in his life, there was nowhere he needed to be.
These images form the first entry in a growing collection of artwork inspired by Stories From 2045.
Future collections will explore:
The Last Human Queue
Arthur
The Library of Unwritten Lives
The Continuance
and other stories from this evolving world.
